Chad Butcher passed one test with flying colours, but he knows everything is going to pick up now.

The 16-year-old forward put a nice capper on his rookie camp with the Medicine Hat Tigers by netting a goal and an assist in Team Black's 6-3 win over Team White in the top-40 scrimmage on Sunday at The Arena.

Today, he begins scrimmage sessions in the Tigers main training camp. Butcher knows the intensity will be cranked up, because he will be battling with older players for jobs.

"It will be a lot of compete out there," said Butcher. "Everybody is fighting for a spot.

"Everybody is trying to impress out there. It will be competitive for sure."

As for his rookie camp, Butcher thought things went well. He played last season with the Thompson Blazers of the British Columbia Major Midget League collecting 13 goals and 29 assists in 37 games.
