HOME DEPOT BACKYARD RINK EVENT

Home Depot’s Backyard Rink contest hit a bit of a snag this year. The weather was warm and any snow that fell was quickly melted. Building a backyard rink in these conditions would be a challenge for even the most experienced ice masters. This wouldn’t stop the Tigers and Home Depot from giving some lucky family the opportunity to play hockey with Tigers at their home though.

Scott McKay, Emerson Etem, Brendan Hurley, Trevor Cox and Cole Grbavac visited Zack McArady and his friends on Friday night to play a little street hockey. The players and kids had a lot of fun and played till it got too dark and cold. The hosts of the event did their best to keep everyone warm and full of engery with hot chocolate and an impressive spread of snacks.

After the street hockey the players headed inside to take photos and sign autographs for everyone in attendance. Although different this season the event was once again a lot of fun for all involved.

The Tigers would like to thank the Home Depot for all their support this season and we look forward to next season’s editions of the On The Bench and Backyard Rink contests.
