Medicine Hat, AB – The ATB Player of the Week for the week ending October 14, 2012 is forward Boston Leier.
This is Leier’s first ATB Player of the Week honour of the 2012-2013 season. Over the past week, Leier collected four assists and had a plus/minus rating of +2 in four games. Over the four games the Tigers went 1-3-0-0.
The Tigers started off a busy week by hosting the defending champion Edmonton Oil Kings on Wednesday night. The Oil Kings got out to an early 4-0 lead but the Tigers battled back to cut the lead to 4-2 by the end of the second. Unfortunately for the Tigers that was were the game would end. Leier recorded no points but had an even +/- rating and 4 penalty minutes.
The team then traveled to Red Deer for the first of back to back to back games. The Tigers lost a close one 2-1 to the Rebels. Leier wasn’t able to get on the score sheet but he played solid. He once again had an even +/- in the game and was named the second star.
Prince George headed to Medicine Hat to take on the Tigers Saturday night. The Tigers had a huge night winning 7-2 in front of the hometown fans. Leier had a huge night assisting on four of the goals. He was +3 and had a few great scoring chances including one he rang of the post. He was named the first star of the game.
The final game of the week was against the Leier’s hometown Blades. The Blades took a 6-3 win to hand the Tigers their third loss of the week. Leier was held off the score sheet and was a -1. It was only the second game this season where Leier posted a minus rating.
At the end of the week, Leier sat sixth in team scoring with 8 points (0G, 8A), first in assists (8) and first in plus/minus rating at +5.
