BRONCOS BLAST RAIDERS – Daniel Dale scored a hat trick and Adam Rossignol tallied a goal and two assists to lead the Swift Current Broncos to an 8-1 win over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders in WHL pre-season action on Saturday night.
Graham Black and Justin Spagrud each netted a goal and an assist while Chance Lund and Coda Gordon also counted for the Broncos (5-2-0-0), who close out their pre-season schedule with their fifth win. Landon Bow and Steven Myland combined for 31 saves to post the win.
Shane Danyluk scored the only goal for the Raiders (1-3-0-0), who allowed three goals on eight Broncos’ power play chances. Luke Siemens and Cole Holowenko combined for 38 saves in a losing cause.
WARRIORS 5, WHEAT KINGS 3
Brayden Point scored twice as the Moose Jaw Warriors managed a 5-3 win over the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday.
Torrin White – with a goal and an assist – Andrew Johnson and Sam Fioretti also counted while Morgan Rielly picked up two assists for the Warriors (3-1-1-0), who were 2-for-10 on the man advantage. Justin Paulic made 20 saves in the win.
Richard Nejezchleb, Alessio Bertaggia and Eric Roy scored for the Wheat Kings (1-3-0-0), who suffer back-to-back losses to the Warriors to close out the pre-season. Corbin Boes turned aside 29 of 34 shots in the loss.
PATS 4, BLADES 3
Morgan Klimchuk scored a pair of goals to lift the visiting Regina Pats to a 4-3 win over the Saskatoon Blades on Saturday.
Chandler Stephenson and Jack Rodewald also scored for the Pats (2-2-0-0), who scored three times in the third period en route to the win. Matt Hewitt turned in a 38-save performance to claim the victory.
Matej Stransky, Connor Cox and Brett Stovin scored for the Blades (2-2-0-0), who went 1-for-5 on the power play. Andrey Makarov made 17 saves in a losing cause.
TIGERS 2, REBELS 1
Miles Koules’ power play marker 9:28 into the third period was the winner as the Medicine Hat Tigers edged the Red Deer Rebels 2-1 on Saturday night in Stettler, AB.
Hunter Shinkaruk tallied a goal and an assist for the Tigers (2-3-0-0), who held the Rebels scoreless on eight power plays. Kenny Cameron made 29 saves to post the victory.
Jan Bittner scored the only marker for the Rebels (0-5-1-0), who end the pre-season without a victory in six games. Patrik Bartosak made 25 saves in the setback.
HURRICANES 3, HITMEN 2
Remi Laurencelle scored and set up another to pace the Lethbridge Hurricanes to a 3-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen in Crowsnest Pass on Saturday.
Brady Ramsay also tallied a goal and an assist while Jamal Watson also counted for the Hurricanes (3-3-0-0), who tallied all three of their goals in the second frame. Ty Rimmer turned in a 34-save effort top backstop the ‘Canes to the victory.
Elliott Peterson and Jaynen Rissling scored for the Hitmen (4-1-0-0), who suffer their first defeat of the pre-season. Mack Shields made 30 saves in the loss.
ROYALS 4, GIANTS 2
Brandon Magee and Ben Walker each picked up a goal and an assist as the Victoria Royals doubled up the visiting Vancouver Giants 4-2 on Saturday.
Jamie Crooks and Logan Nelson also scored for the Royals (4-2-0-0), who end their pre-season on the back of their fourth straight win. Patrik Polivka stopped 28 shots en route to earning the win.
Austin Vetterl and Marek Tvrdon scored for Vancouver (1-3-1-1), which drops its fourth straight pre-season fixture. Tyler Fuhr and Liam Liston combined for 13 saves in a losing effort.
THUNDERBIRDS 5, SILVERTIPS 3
Branden Troock and Connor Sanvido each picked up a goal and a helper as the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds skated to a 5-3 win over the Everett Silvertips on Saturday.
Roberts Lipsbergs, Alex Delnov and Luke Lockhart also scored for the Thunderbirds (3-2-1-0), who win their second straight decision to finish up their pre-season schedule. Justin Myles and Danny Mumaugh combined for 25 stops in the win.
Carson Stadnyk had a goal and two assists while Kohl Bauml and Ty Mappin also scored for the Silvertips (3-4-0-0), who drop their second straight contest to close out their exhibition season. Ausin Lotz made 19 saves in the defeat.
ROCKETS 8, AMERICANS 1
JT Barnett scored a hat trick and Dylen McKinlay added a goal and two assists in their debuts for the Kelowna Rockets, helping the team to an 8-1 thrashing of the visiting Tri-City Americans on Saturday.
Myles Bell tallied two goals and an assist while Austin Ferguson and Carter Rigby also counted for the Rockets (2-2-0-2), who allowed the game’s first goal but scored the next eight en route to the win. Jordon Cooke made 18 saves in the victory.
Lukas Nickles scored the lone tally for the Americans (2-4-0-1), who suffer their fourth straight defeat. Luke Lee-Knight made 31 saves in a losing cause.
