Medicine Hat, AB - The ATB Player of the Week for the week ending Sept 30, 2012 is forward Hunter Shinkaruk.

This is Shinkaruk's first ATB Player of the Week honour of the 2012-2013 season. In addition he was also named the Denny's WHL Player of the Week. Over the past 10 days, Shinkaruk tallied two goals and five assists for seven points and an even plus/minus rating in four games. Over the four games the Tigers went 3-1-0-0.

The Tigers opened the season with a home and home series against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Tigers lost the first game in Lethbridge 4-2 but responded with a 5-1 win in their home opener. Shinkaruk was held pointless in the first meeting but picked up his first goal of the season in front of the home town fans.

On Friday night the Tigers traveled to Red Deer to take on the Rebels. The Tigers got in an early 3-0 hole but battled back to win 5-4. Shinkaruk helped the Tigers on the special teams picking up assists on Dylan Bredo's shorthanded goal and Miles Koules' power play goal.

Riding high off the comeback win, Shinkaruk saved his best performance for Saturday night against the visiting Regina Pats. Shinkaruk had one goal and three assists in a dominant 5-1 victory. Heading into the final frame the two teams were tied 1-1. Shinkaruk had a huge third period getting in the action on all four goals.

With the first week in the books, Shinkaruk currently sits tied for sixth in league scoring with seven points.
