Wednesday 10.05.11 / 02:10 PMMedicine Hat, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers announced today the re-assignment of two players to bring the numbers on their player roster to twenty-four.
19-year-old defenseman Ryan Aasman has been sent to Spruce Grove of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
Aasman appeared in one game for the Tigers prior to his re-assignment.
“Ryan had a competitive camp but at the end of the day it came down age and numbers that moved him on to Spruce Grove,” stated Tigers’ g.m. Brad McEwen.
“We need to get some of our younger players into game situations. Ryan is going to a real good Junior A program. He is excited about going there with the opportunity of being one of their top four d-men and winning a championship,” said McEwen.
The three man goaltender situation has also been cleared up with 17-year-old Dawson MacAuley going to Yorkton of the Saskatchewan Junior League. Yorkton obtain MacAuley’s right yesterday from North Battleford.
“It was a real good battle between Dawson and Kenny Cameron for the back up spot on our team,” stated McEwen.
“Dawson being the younger of the two needs to play more. Going to Yorkton in the SJHL will give him the opportunity for ice time he needs to continue his development. He will come back that much more of a better goaltender.”
The Tigers are currently on a five game road trip into the BC Division that begins in Victoria tomorrow night. The Tabbies will play a second game in Victoria on Friday before heading back to the mainland to do battle with Vancouver on Saturday, Kamloops on Monday and Kelowna on Wednesday.
