TIGERS FALL 6-1 TO GIANTSOct 05, 2012 - 17:27 MDT
The Tigers traveled to Vancouver to take on the Giants in the second game of a three game BC road trip. The Tigers were looking to get back in the win column after losing 4-3 in OT to the Victoria Royals on Wednesday. The Giants had other plans though taking the game 6-1 on Saturday night.
The Giants came out and took an early 3-0 lead. Riley Kieser, Brett Kulak and Cain Franson all scored in the first 5:11 of the first period. Jackson Houck added another late for the Giants to give them a 4-0 lead heading into the first intermission. The Giants controlled much of the action in the period outshooting the Tigers 14-5.
The second period was more balance with the Giants leading the shots 13-9. Despite trailing in shots the Tigers were able to get a goal back to cut the lead to 4-1. Curtis Valk scored his fourth of the season from Kyle Becker and Miles Koules.
The Giants would get the goal back and add another early in the third. Tristan Sieben and Nathan Burns scored their second and fourth goals of the season, respectively.
The Tigers goaltenders had a bit of a rough night. Marek Langhamer started in net but was relieved by Dawson MacAuley after giving up three goals on eight shots. MacAuley was more successful allowing three goals on 26 shots.
The Tigers special teams went 0 for 3 on the power play while killing off 2 of 3 penalties.
